Two factor authentication

Cancoin

Two-factor authentication (TFA) adds an optional level of login security. On login, you will be require to enter an authorization code that is generated via google authenticator or another third party app that is in your control.

To turn on TFA, use the following steps:

  1. Login to your account and go to Account Settings > Security
  2. Sync your account with your preferred 3rd party authenticator
  3. Write down and secure the secret key shown during the sync process to ensure you don't get locked out in the event of device loss or theft (ie/. a phone or tablet).
  4. Enter the code displayed to activate TFA on login and transaction send

If you want to disable TFA on your account and you still have access to your TFA credentials, use the following steps:

  1. Login to your account and go to Account Settings > Security
  2. Enter your TFA verification and click 'Remove TFA'

If you want to disable TFA on your account and no longer have access to your TFA credentials and can't login, use the following steps:

  1. Go to the Login page, enter your username and click 'Continue'
  2. Click 'Reset Two-Factor Authentication' link
  3. Enter your account's associated email address and click 'send reset link'
  4. You will receive an email with a link to 'reset Two Factor Authentication'
  5. Once you click the link, you will be re-directed to a confirmation page explaining that the TFA removal process has begun
  6. For security purposes, you must wait two weeks before TFA is removed from your account and you can login with just your login password. If you login with your TFA at any time during the two weeks, the lock is cancelled and your account will resume operating normally.

More on authenticators: Google Authenticator, or any TOTP based authenticators can be synced with your Cancoin account.
